You seemed to be a Pro with so much of information.
I know this is a pretty old thread, but interested to find out if you give some tips on starting this business on a H1B and how i can withdraw profits from that?
Any help is appreciated.

What exactly do you mean when you say starting this business? Do you want to open a trading account on your own and trade? Join a day trading firm? Or open a Fund? Each one will have different implications on H1. You can open your own investment account with a brokerage firm and trade your own money, no problem with H1 what so ever.
If you join a day trading firm you will have to be on H1 with them. Very few ones do but I know of a couple who will do it. In fact a classmate of mine is working as a Trader/Analyst with a small trading firm in NYC. They have sponsored his H1.
Starting a fund, (if you can get the seed money :D), you open a LLC and sponsor yourself. You will be an employee of the company and draw a salary. You tell me what you have in mind and I will tell you what to do or what I did.

I didn't meant to hurt feelings here. and i know how Canada is less opportunity for IT folks. but just couple more points.
1) if number of jobs was criterion, India has far higher number of jobs in IT then US, so people should be rushing bk to India which is not the case. I don't think number of Jobs available in US is why people wanna live here. Even if it takes year or a little more, at least Canadians are transparent about the process.
2) I know everyone here is well read and well educated. Read up about AUS, NZ, Canada and few other countries which have point bases system, they are not under developed or backward in any way. Wikipedia might help.
And please read carefully, my wife is on another beauty of a status called H4B, i mentioned clearly i know how easily people got their H1B's through consultants.

well said... and key point is we are bashing (if that's what you want to call it) the system (we are part of the system) not Americans...
Lot of people fail or choose not to see that.
We do have a right to request prompt, fair service.
We do have a right to expect to be treated by the system as we treat the system: with respect.
If we do not actively seek to change the system for the better, then who will?
There is no injustice that some justify with "well, he's illegal!" or "He's not American!" It is not acceptable. Not just because it is unfair to us, but because there are no bounds to it.
If early Americans just accepted how the British treated them, there would be no United States. Not arguing for revolution, but I am saying that any efficiency that exists today exists because of the demand for it. Regardless of citizenship.

If you are not counted against cap, that is equivalent to visa available = PD current.
I interpret SKILL as follows for US MS.
1. You wait for your PD to become current.
2. When your PD becomes current, you are not counted against the cap.

Hi,
I am also struck in the same situation. My Interview was done on 7th Dec and so far I did not get the passport. Vfs website says "Your passport has not been handed over to VFS. I sent an email to 'ChennaiNIV@state.gov'. Got a reply that application is under process will be processed soon.

So How come all we hear from the core team is requests for contribution? There is no detail of any actions/efforts that are happening currently? It will certainly be more engaging for all members to at least know what efforts are being worked on currently? I think expectations need to work both ways otherwise you just have an autocratic organization that has to follow and do as the leaders choose to do.
